Eye Cross Section - Sketch to Render

Sometime illustration work isn't up to artistic interpretation.  This eye cross section is an example of when it becomes calculated draftsmanship.

As you can see with the above sketch, math and perfect circles were involved.  What amazes me is that even with all the rules that were implemented for this illustration, within the BVIS class everyone's final rendering was unique.  There is an art to what details are included or excluded, line weight, and labeling.  I took a straight-forward approach, leaving out the blood vessels.  I think that my illustration reads well and would serve its purpose for a human anatomy textbook.  Though it could look beautiful with shading or color, it would simply complicate the purpose.  Less is more seems like an apt statement for this piece.
